Green Turtle Inn - ISLAMORADA

I've had this place on my to-try list for quite some time, and it came highly recommended. We went there for Sunday breakfast on our way home from Key West. There was a 20-minute wait for a table, so we decided to sit at the bar. While we waited for our food, we started with some Bloody Marys. I ordered the Shrimp and Grits, while my husband went for the Fish Sandwich. His sandwich was good, but my Shrimp and Grits were outstanding! The sauce had just the right amount of spice, the shrimp were juicy, and I loved the addition of onions and peppers in the sauce. It came with bread for dipping, and trust me, you'll want to savor every bit of that sauce. I can't wait to return and try more from their tempting menu!

I visited this place for the first time and was disappointed to find that our room didn't match the photos on the website at all. While the room was clean, it felt very outdated. The screen on the window was not only torn but also bent. Our room was on the upper floor, and if you're not at least 5'7", you won't be able to enjoy the view from the bathroom window, which has the best view of the canal. The TV was the smallest I've seen in a hotel in a long time. On the plus side, the bed was comfortable. The parking lot in front is small, but there is additional parking on the other side of the entrance, although it seemed that no one was using it. The refrigerator was quite noisy. I noticed that many business workers were staying there, along with their large trucks taking up space in the small parking lot.

Thought thus would be great, unfortunately it wasn't. I got the Love sandwich and it the portion of meatloaf didn't even cover the bun. I got the collard greens and they were very disappointing, to the point that these are the reason that peoplesay they don't like collards. The Monte Christo is not dipped and deep fried. They make two pieces of French toast and buildda turkey sandwich between them. They forgot the fries and then rushed them as they close at 2 on Sunday and apparently thekitchen wanted to go home because the fries they gave us were under cooked. This place rates a skip it.

A visit to Islamorada wouldn't be complete without dining at this beloved local restaurant that has stood the test of time. They offer a fantastic menu, friendly service, and great prices.

We had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The service was really good and the cocktails were excellent. For starters I think the buffalo cauliflower appetizer $11) was perfection, it?s really worth trying. The dinner also includes warm breadrolls. We were there on a Wednesday and I had the steak special $30) Compliments to the chef because they can grill anincredible steak. The flavor was exceptional. My husband had the fresh catch $38 $9 for the Ala Roxie preparation) and it wasdelicious as well. Overall I don?t think you can go wrong here. Definitely worth the price.
