The table has a QR code plus they hand you a menu, it was easier to read it on the phone. The board menu was worn in some spots. Got the tostones with chicken and garlic sauce plus the beef empanadas. Both were very tasty. The other diner had the fish tacos. I had one of the three tacos, they were a generous portion. So good! We also had the happy hour specials that ran til 8 pm, had a beer and Tito's vodka. Price was a steal of a deal compared to the hotel restaurants.
While this establishment has been a landmark for many years, this last visit left us a very disappointed. Food was not fresh, most dishes tasted like straight out the microwave. We actually had to wait a long time to be seated and even when taken to a table, it was pretty dirty. We had to flag down waiters to acknowledge our table and the appetizers we ordered were all frozen bites that had come from the microwave as well. The staff was friendly and trying to make jokes but reality is, they didn't serve us with care and attention. We had to ask for all the things that are common sense to have at a dinning table, utensils, napkins, etc. The place was dirty with food on the floor and the bathrooms smelled badly. This place has gone down hill.
I came here with my son for my birthday, I would have liked the service to be top-notch as the restaurant was highly recommended for the service and food. Sadly service was just ok as well as the food. I had the breaded steak with Mampostiado rice and Tostones de Pana. My son had steak with onions with the same sides. For drinks he ordered a Rum and OJ I had a coconut mojito served in a wine glass not much of a mojito taste or coconut. I must say the Octopus salad we ordered for the appetizer was the only star of the show. In all, I had a pleasant time while on vacation, and my birthday was well spent. Would I come back? Not sure yet. we will see on my next trip back to PR.
This was a great restaurant. Staff was friendly and efficient, dining room was large and we were seated quickly. Most staff spoke decent to very good English so ordering is no problem. We enjoyed their food so much that we visited twice in five days. Over the two visits we had dinner and then just a snack meal the next visit since we'd had a late lunch and couldn't have eaten a full dinner. Over the visits we had fish tacos, filets de dorado (mahi mahi), sopa de Cibola (French onion soup), sorullitos de maiz (corn sticks), bacalaftos (local cod fritters), coconut flan, mojitos, and piña coladas. The corn sticks and the French onion soup were just okay but the rest of the food was simply fantastic! The fish tacos were the best I've had anywhere and the mahi mahi was cooked and seasoned to perfection. The mojitos were quite good and the piña coladas were tasty. The only downside to this restaurant is that it is loud. Filled with tourists that need to remember to lower their voices. But the food is good, the seafood is so fresh you must try it, and the staff makes the visit pleasant. You should visit this restaurant at least once when you are in Isla Verde. So sorry for not capturing pictures ...
The restaurant was jumping when we arrived. They offer valet parking, because the parking lot was packed. We were promptly seated in the bar area where live music was happening. We ordered chicken wings and fried plantain. The wings were huge and tasty, the plantains did not please us, but they weren't bad. I ordered the chicken mufungo with garlic sauce. Even with the sauce it was dry, and lacked an over the top flavor. The Chicken Melineasa with rice andd plantains, was flavorful and delicious. The plantains were dry possibly overcooked, and the rice was very tasty. Santiago our server took care of us quite well, made suggestions, and provided all the answers we needed to make informed decisions. The live band was very good, but extremely loud in the space we were in. 4 stars is the best I can do. The Mufungo was a disappointment, and I hope we can find better while we are visiting.
