Anybody that has ever been to a South African Indian wedding will know that the highlight of the day is the wedding biryani and now I know where to get the real deal without waiting for my friends to get married. Yes, it is off the beaten track and yes, it looks like a factory but you know you've hit pay dirt when the aunties are queuing around the block with pots in hand waiting to place their order. I got take away rather than eating in so I'm not certain what the sit-down facilities are like. Once we got to the counter the pressure was on, we placed our order, biryani, dhal, sojee and we had been served, paid and were out of the door in a minute flat! Talk about efficient. The biryani was superb, the sojee delicious! Everything is delicately spiced and moreish. I'll be back for sure.
The chicken tikka is really good, a bit spicy but still awesome. The chicken is quite tender and nice. Also had the Breyani which was quite nice. Meat was super duper awesome. Also the Soji, out of this world!!!! Tasted the crumbed drumsticks which were also quite nice.
Looking for a good lamb biryani? This is the place to go to. Meat is always tender in the biryani but I prefer the special biryani on the wknds. Not sure if it's sold on the weekdays. Soji isn't the best but it's good and not tooo sweet. They usually have a buffet on Fridays upstairs, not sure if they still do but they have an additional rice dish called the lucknow biryani which I LOVE! No masoor in this dish and its delish
The owner Solly was very entertaining. I always like to enjoy the different beryani, very tasty. I normally order my meals sit in in the dining place next door. They also have a dining place upstairs, this only operates on Fridays, it's a buffet type.
