She describes each dish and remembers everyone’s name truly exceptional. The entire evening is a special experience. Great way to celebrate the season.
What an experience! We went for an anniversary celebration on a Sunday evening and chose The Colonnade at Hope and Glory for our special dinner. Knowing ahead of time that it was a prix fixe menu my husband worked with Heather to discuss some food intolerances limitations I had and prepared some alternatives to the menu. I could not have been more thrilled with what Chef Crockett chose. They are incredibly conscientious of peoples particular requirements and are more than happy to accommodate specific needs. Fresh made rolls with butter and rosemary from their garden, baked oysters with pesto and asaggio cheese melted on top, and vichyssoise soup with fresh chives, also from their garden to start. Our entrees included lump meat crab cakes with only a delicious aioli to hold it together, no fillers. For me, salmon with a delicious lemon and mustard sauce, both entrees accompanied by ratatouille and also glazed carrots for my husband. And to complete the meal, for desert a chocolate mousse with fresh whipped cream for me and a fabulous raisin filled bread pudding with sauce drizzled on top for my husband. Each course was paired with excellent wines and a bit of tawny port at the end to sip with desert. We have lived and traveled outside the US numerous times and we are hard pressed to think of another dining experience that compares to the ambience, the service, the quality and presentation of the food and the total experience that we enjoyed at The Colonnade. Once dinner was complete Chef Crockett came out to introduce herself. She could not have been more delightful, sharing that she began her cooking journey in Vienna, Austria where we discovered we lived very near where she had also lived, just a few years prior to us. From there it was on to formal French training and eventually on to Irvington where we were very lucky to meet her. If you ever looking for an opportunity to celebrate a special occasion, want a wonderful, intimate restaurant to enjoy a fine dining experience then look no further than The Colannade at Hope and Glory in Irvington, Virginia. It created a wonderful memory for us that we look forward to returning to on another occasion.
Delicious dinner and Romantic setting! We were there for our anniversary and they sat us next to the fireplace and gave us complimentary Champagne to help celebrate!
My mother and I stayed at the Hope Glory Inn and while there dined at The Colonnade. Chef Meseret gave us a dining experience we will never forget! Her sources for fresh produce and seafood, imaginative use of ingredients, and just right portion sizes were paired exquisitely with recommended wines. The meal couldn 't have been more pitch perfect. Of special note, was the silky smooth, vanilla essence panna cotta served with a berry coulis for dessert. It was out of this world. I 've never been the biggest fan of the dish, but Chef Meseret changed my mind!In addition to her culinary expertise, she is an excellent hostess and worldly woman. She was so gracious when she came to check on us to inquire about our dinner. I learned how she prepared the panna cotta and she and my mother conversed in German. We also learned Meseret has been at the H G for 19 years how fortunate for the the inn! She 's a true asset to the H G as is Heather who did a beautiful job serving us that evening. Bravo ladies!!
My husband and I take the opportunity to dine at the Colonnade at The Hope and Glory Inn 2x a year. Whether a special occasion or just time for us to enjoy the special culinary experience Chef Meseret delivers we have after 10 years not been disappointed. Each course (usually 4) is personally crafted to each table by Chef. This experience is not mass production. When a good “cook” can deconstruct the elements as presented it says everything about the Chef’s talent at hand. Ingredients are personally chosen, farm/garden to table creates a perfectly executed meal. This evening in the midst of a tropical storm we enjoyed oysters ala Meseret, gazpacho with 8 different tomatoes and raspberry, a crab cake with no filler and accompanying sides and the finale dessert of homemade pannacotta with fresh berry coulis. Wine pairing is suggested it is spot on. Quiet intimate setting if you have dietary needs speak up. At the end of the evening Chef Meseret arrives at your table to converse about the meal, take questions and feedback. The experience here is more personal than most worth every penny.
