Joe's has been in business for 78 years (since 1946), and it may very well be the oldest pasty shop in Michigan. We sampled both the traditional and Finnish pasties. I'm particularly fond of the Finnish option because the addition of carrots and rutabaga adds such a rich depth of flavor. Both pasties were cooked to perfection, and the flavors were superb. My only wish is that they offered gravy. Unlike some pasties we’ve tried, Joe's didn’t need gravy at all; they were wonderfully moist. That said, I do love gravy! If you're in search of a great pasty, make sure to stop by Joe's. The prices are reasonable, the pasties are delicious, and they use grass-fed ground beef.
I picked up several frozen varieties, including traditional, bacon cheeseburger, and breakfast. I brought them down to southeastern Wisconsin to share with friends who are originally from Michigan. The flavors were outstanding! As for parking, there were no issues at all.
One of the best pasties around and the longevity of the resturant proves that. If you want an authentic U.P. pasty go to Joe's.
I used to visit this place regularly, but it’s been 20 years since my last visit! I’m excited to go back when I’m there in September! They have the best pasties I've ever had!
Wonderful place to get amazing pasties! Worth every penny and every minute travelling and waiting in line!
