Shi Xuan Gourmet House - Ipswich

My usual Chinese was closed so this was highly recommended on a couple of local pages. I was not disappointed. I got what I get from my local and the prawn toast was thick and dee-lish only 2 but where bigger. The ribs where soft and tender. I got two chicken satay skewers extra. They DID NOT disappoint they are This but this is a Chinese and where good. I get Singapore noodles and this was flavoursome and not to spicy and packed with meat. I loved the crispy shredded beef Kung po chicken And the special fried rice was great. Just so tasty. This is a really good Chinese. I spent 40 sovs fed 2 of us have enough to feed me and me mum today

Been using this Chinese for years, foods always nice, yet the prices have increased twice this year, £5 each time, and now been told they charge delivery on all orders, yet they forgot to mention this when ordering! Won't be using again

I have to say, the food was excellent. I placed my order directly and they delivered it, even bringing a card machine. The quality of the food at this Chinese restaurant is far superior to any other, including the popular Friend restaurant. I had tried this takeaway a few years ago but only returned last night, and I was pleasantly surprised by the improvement. I have tried all the takeaways in Chingford, and Gourmet House is definitely the best. I ordered Sweet and Sour Pork, Chicken Chowmein, and egg fried rice, which was enough for two meals. It's also conveniently located near my home. I would recommend not using food apps to order from here.

Lovely food has been my go to Chinese locally. However they got a 1 star hygiene rating in Jan 2024. I can’t eat here again until the year improve food handling and cleanliness, and receive a much higher hygiene rating. Hoping they read this and improve standards to bring back more business for themselves.

Sadly this is our last order. The price has gone up £6 in a week. £3 of it is a new delivery charge which hasn’t reduced the delivery time! We’ve ordered from Gourmet House nearly every week for four years but we would prefer to pay more elsewhere than pay this extra cost. Goodbye GH and thanks for the memories!
