Goosetown Café - Iowa City

Will need to try other options like the shakshuka, but I was extremely disappointed by the brioche French toast. It sounded so good, but the bread was kind of grainy, almost close to corn bread. I thought brioche was light and fluffy. The lemon crème fraiche sounded great but there wasn’t enough to taste it. And usually similar French toasts come with fresh berries which would’ve made a great addition. Would not order again : Coffee was good and hot. Wait staff was awesome and attentive even though they were busy. They don’t have an espresso machine but said you can bring in your own lattes from nearby coffee shops like Tru Coffee

Absolutely delicious. The flourless chocolate torte was unique and amazing. Loved the broccoli with romesco, and the burgers were great. A little out of my budget for a regular experience, but on my list for special occasions.

Long wait. Two negative experiences. Slow moving staff. There is a reason customers stand in line for other brunch spots in downtown Iowa City but there is no line at Goose town... because it's bad. Apathetic staff and off putting host/management. Other tables were getting up and leaving because of the long wait and neglectful service. I wish we had left as well.

I really enjoy the outdoor seating during the warmer months. Their spritzer is fantastic, and the grapefruit mimosas are just as delightful. The atmosphere is wonderfully relaxed. The espresso crème brûlée was my all-time favorite dessert from any restaurant, but unfortunately, they've updated their menu, and it's no longer available. Please bring it back!

They’ve updated their menu, and the food is excellent and of high quality. The cocktails are always creative and delicious, and their desserts are fantastic too. I can’t wait until they reopen outdoor dining and close the street again. The owners are wonderful; they walked around, engaging with customers and checking in on tables, even if they weren’t directly serving them. I can’t remember the name of the female owner, but she stopped to chat with us and was a delight. Her son also greeted us and thanked us for visiting. They are truly great people here. Make sure to support this restaurant!
