The Outsiders Grill - Iola

One of my favorite spots to grab a meal. The atmosphere is amazing, the service is good, and the cocktails are delicious.

I was passing through town and feeling hungry, so I wanted to find a local restaurant instead of settling for a fast-food chain like Arby’s, Taco John’s, or McDonald’s. After skipping those places, I headed downtown and decided to stop at Outsiders. I ordered the classic burger with bacon, and it turned out to be one of the best burgers I've had in a long time. I arrived a bit before lunch, and as noon approached, the restaurant started to fill up – and it was easy to see why! Service: Dine-in.

The food was absolutely delicious. I ordered the cheese tortellini with grilled chicken, along with a side salad and grilled vegetables. The portions were generous—much more than I could eat, but it was so tasty that I tried my best anyway. Usually, I’m not a fan of grilled vegetables, but these were served in a fantastic sauce that made them delightful. The side salad was small, but it was just the right size for the meal. I also enjoyed the experience of watching two strangers strike up a conversation and a surprise birthday celebration unfold. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the music was at a perfect volume for easy conversation.

Pretty good little joint. Stopped in for the night and they had a great selection of whiskey and the burgers were great. Next time we're in Chanute I'll stop again. Price per person: $10–20 Recommended dishes: Burger
