It was just after 5 pm, there were only 2 other people in the restaurant. It was cold inside and after 15 min of being ignored we left, without even being asked if all was well. Absolutely no idea why they are open.
Yet again it has changed its name, only this time the standards have dropped considerably. In the last 3 years it has been Tapa Organic, Finestra, and now, Cook and Baker. In previous incarnations, the standards remained constant, but not now. I don't understand what has gone so wrong here, even the cycling clubs have abandoned it and moved 50 yards down the street. Now we have very slow service, disinterested staff and it appears to be pot luck with your order.
Appalling service after 20 mins still hadn’t been served my soup of the day, bare walls, bare counter poor selection menu even worse if you are vegetarian this used to be a fantastic place and a regular haunt for me and the good lady alas no more can’t see this dump nor its incompetent staff lasting long and it will be no loss perhaps someone who knows what they are doing can take it over
Something’s changed in ‘Finestra’, and not just the name. Staff changes cannot all be described as a positive dimension of the “new” place. While friendly, there is, generally, a lack of enthusiasm, with visits now very much ‘hit or miss’ experiences. The quality of coffee is inconsistent, and the reported absence of some basic items is unacceptable. These are some of the reasons why standards have fallen. The positive news, though, is that the existing weaknesses could and should be easily addressed. Lower the cost of presently overpriced cakes; also, ensure that coffee is always piping hot, and consistently good, regardless of which staff member happens to be making/serving it. Music should be in the background to complement the ambience not dominate the mood. Oh, and why not reinstate the customer ‘loyalty card’? Doing so will convey the basic message that clients are valued. Simple measures that, if taken on board, are likely to lead to a better all round deal and experience for owner, staff, and customers. Failure to recognise such realities, and an unwillingness to take action is, sadly, likely to lead to the further demise of what is potentially a vibrant, welcoming feature of the village.
A spur of the moment trip and we needed coffee! This establishment was inviting and we were happy with both the comfy sofa which looked out and the standard coffees we drank. The price was reasonable. Happy to give a good report. As for other folks it was busy and I saw food being served.
