For mains we had chef special goat curry and a Kadei (? selling) chicken dish. The staff were delightful and friendly. Plain, cafe style restaurant. BYO wine.
We tried the Indian restaurant and left trying to work out which of the two scores we would give it namely poor or average, I chose poor as the food was at best average, but it should be noted that Innisfail could never be regarded for it's cuisine, I guess if I was scoring it for Innisfail restaurants I would give it outstanding but I eat Indian all over the world and this food was poor, the nan was greasy, the Chicken Tika oily and wet and a butter Chicken sweet and strange, nope this is a food establishment that would not cut it any where else but Innisfail. But in Innisfail it's dam better than anything else.
I have been experiencing traditional Indian food with some close friends for a while and they have introduced me to a lot of traditional food. Most of the places in Townsville are not very traditional and lack a lot of differing flavours you know are meant to be there when you eat proper Indian. This place has that!! You can tell everything is made with love and care and not everything tastes the same. We ordered quite a bit of entrees to share and by the time our main came and we finished that (as well as a naan) we were much too full for dessert. You must try the galub jaman (not sure about spelling) which are like little dumplings in rose syrup. THEY ARE SO GOOD! As I said I did not try the ones here as I was too full but from past experience this dessert rocks my socks more than something fancy any day!Give it a try and you won't be disappointed.
We went on the advice of the hotel owners. It is a basic shopfront/takeaway/restaurant but the food is amazing. The prices are reasonable, we were a group of six and walked away with full stomachs for a little over $100.The quality was excellent, highly recommended
Me and my girlfriend love a good Indian, we had been traveling around Australia so have tried many different ones, and many, many butter chickens. This one however, we still talk about. We loved it so much we went back multiple times even tho we were only in the area a short while. It is a very small family run restaurant, yes it is very small inside but that adds to its character even more. The onion bajis to start are again the best we have tried in Aus, they seem freshly made and deep fried then and there! The butter chicken is actually the best I've ever tasted, so much flavour and such a good consistency of sauce. Also for a small business the quality of the meat was really good!Don't be put off by the small space you have to eat in or the walk round the back of the restaurant to the toilet, its an amazing indian that we still compare it to every one we've had since.
