Ukiyo - Indianapolis

This is the best sushi I've ever tasted! Everything else we ordered was exceptional as well. Ukiyo's commitment to sustainable and locally sourced ingredients is truly commendable. I highly recommend dining here—you won't be let down! The atmosphere, food, and staff were all outstanding!

A charming atmosphere with fantastic food! We visited for lunch and shared three rolls, all of which were fresh and bursting with flavor. We also ordered the seafood ramen, which was nice, but it definitely didn't stand out as much as the rolls.

Let’s start with the ramen. The seafood ramen was truly delicious—the flavor was clean and subtle, and there was nothing fishy about the broth. The addition of salmon roe provided a perfect touch of salty umami richness. The kimchi fries were crispy and featured just the right amount of chasu and a special sauce. If you can’t quite picture it, think of Asian chili fries—the taste of the special sauce was a delightful mix of yum yum and kimchi. The hot chicken bun was another highlight. It featured dark meat chicken, which is often underrated in terms of flavor, that was perfectly fried and complemented by pickles and a chili oil. While I found the chili oil to be mild, the pickles offered a nice balance to the fried chicken. My only complaint was the height of the ramen bowl in relation to the table and seat; it felt too tall for me. I found it a bit awkward to reach down into the deep bowl of ramen.

Modern twists on traditional Japanese fair. Fresh sustainable fish for their sushi and they use as much local ingredients in their menu as possible. The staff is top notched as well everyone is really friendly and helpful, plus the decor of the restaurant is sleek, calming, modern yet still with a traditionally Japanese style .Super hyped to try one of the Omakase nights!!

Unusual food and tasty too. We enjoyed catfish and yellow tail both as sashimi and main course. Octopus dumplings are a circus act, as the fill dough moves in the steam of the dumplings. It appears they love salt, so next time I will ask for the low sodium option.
