His Place Eatery - Indianapolis

Highlights include the best dishes: the creamed corn (absolutely delicious!), turkey, dressing, brisket, pulled pork, and mac and cheese, all in that order. The only item I wouldn't order again is the mashed potatoes. The service was truly exceptional for a Friday night in 2022. Despite the restaurant being packed and carryout orders coming in fast, our server provided outstanding care to her tables. It felt like all the staff worked together to ensure a wonderful dining experience. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves soul food!

The food is Southern-style and it’s excellent. We didn’t have to wait to be seated, despite the restaurant being quite busy. The staff were very polite and eager to assist. Our server took our order, and we only had to wait about 10 minutes for our meals, which arrived hot and exactly as we requested. If you’re seeking a restaurant that offers home-cooked meals, this is the perfect spot for you and your family.

We were visiting from out of town and discovered this gem through an online search, and we're so glad we did! We had an incredible lunch. The soul food was simply perfect and truly satisfying. Every side dish we sampled was delicious. We ordered both the fried chicken and the BBQ pulled pork, and both were absolutely on point. The waitstaff was friendly, helpful, and just as enthusiastic about their food as we were about trying it! I would definitely go out of my way to dine here again!

Absolutely Delicious food!! My husband and I were visiting from Columbus, OH and decided to give this restaurant a try. When I say the food was amazing, it seriously was one of the best soul food places we’ve had. We loved that Chef James came around and greeted everyone; made us feel very welcomed. We will definitely be back again and highly recommend anyone in the area to eat here!

In town to support family members up from North Carolina for the AAU Basketball Tournament. So we went to a spot I 'd heard rumors of. Well, consider this review as confirmation. Chef Jones and Samara, as well as the Wait-list Hostess made me and my family feel like honored guests. The food was well on the 'Yes I want more, but I 'm too full side! ' Seriously. We did want dessert, just couldn 't fit it in. The helpings we 're more than generous. The food was good. And that Kudo was given by finicky teenagers, lol. Personally, I thought it was more than good. It was delicious...and very good. My understanding is that this place has been a fixture in Indianapolis for more than 13 or 14 years..here 's to many more to come. I definitely think anyone going in the direction of Indianapolis need to stop and check this place out.
