City Barbeque - Indianapolis

2nd Time with very negative experience at this Avon, IN location! First time we just figured it was a one off bad day and didn't let it bother us too much. But recently we returned and placed an order for their individual ribs. Bad choice. Sadly, their photos of the ribs on their site are nothing like what we found when we opened our takeout order. Of the 8 ribs we ordered none of them remotely resembled the ribs that they show on the menu, and 3 of them (photos included) were absolutely terrible. They had virtually zero meat on them and looked like they had been sitting for days (the photos are just the way they were received). If I had scraped the meat off of the 3 ribs in the photos there would not have been an ounce of meat total. Amazing that anyone would think that serving these to a customer was acceptable. By the way they charge $2.99 for each rib. I have included a photo of what their menu ribs look like and the ones we received.

Always a place we visit when in Avon. Great barbecue to go or eat in. Lots of options for meats and lots of sides to choose from. Family friendly too!

The first few times we went it was really good. Sandwiches had a good portion of meat, you could choose the sauce you wanted and they had self serve pickles. After a while the meat portions began to shrink as well as the quality of the meat, several times it was very dry and barely warm. Due to Covid the self serve condiments went away and instead you got a tiny cup with a very little amount of stuff. The cups were only able to hold about 3 slices of pickle. I understand the need to alter the way things were served, but at least provide a container big enough to hold a decent amount of toppings. We used to go here a couple times a month, now maybe every couple of months. Service has also gone down hill.

The service was really fast and the food was o.k. The brisket was kinda of bland and my turkey was dry, the ribs were good though.

Coming from out of town, I knew I made the right choice when half the (lengthy) line ahead of me for lunch were either firemen or policemen. The food was really good, I had the pulled pork and spicy sausage.
