RÖssli - Illnau

The restaurant Rössli is definitively the best gourmet restaurant in the region. They serve regional food and the chefs perform on a very high level. The service is also professional. I have eaten here as a couple and with a group of people as well...and the product is on a high level each time.

Friendly staff, creative cooking reasonably priced. They are willing to prepare dishes not on the menu and the staff are experienced and very efficient. You need to. Reserve in advance.

We booked a table for dinner at a comparatively late time by Swiss standards. The Roessli team was very forthcoming about it. The place was very crowded when we arrived. This notwithstanding, we were served quickly and effectively. Good and friendly service, solid and well executed Swiss cuisine and an interesting selection of wines. Importantly in the greater Zurich area, the Roessli also provides good value. The restaurant itself is loud, which is a pity. Parking can be a challenge when the place is quite full.

We had a nice welcome at the restaurant..(only person at Restaurant who knew her job well), wehre led to a very small table for two. Interieur was according to the location a country restaurant, maybe a bit dark.Our waiter, we did not really understand the concept, be cause we where waited onnby several different persons. One seemd to be the chef the service. We ordered a good bottle of rather expensive wine. The bottle was brought, opend and than we noticed it had the wron year! For an expert a significant difference. Anyhow the chef the service tryed to sell us this wine and obviously did not know the differnce in the slightest.We are not difficult people but if we go to a place where food for two costs between 350-400 Swiss francs! We expect an according service! After discussing he went to fetch the right year bottle and made us try it. While pouring it he grabbed the glasses from the table and poured it, like it was a beer! ( touching the glas with the bottle neck) really we had a hard time believing it! (Wine was 125.-swiss francs, was not served in a decanter and poured like beer, by all other waiters as well)Talking about food: nice looking plates, tasty food, portions rater on the small side, which is normal for a place like this. So if you go, take a menue and dont mind the service.We also noticed, that the waiter tryed to hide the fact about the wrong bottle, also did not appologize. And went for the real year bottle only after we insisted. His choice was a lower quality wine. We will never go back.

We came to Rössli for lunch and were pleasantly surprised by their nice garden. You can eat in the shade of trees. They have a choice of five different menus, from simple lunch menu for 18.50 to the fancy gourmet for 98 CHF. We went for the fit and healthy option and both found it fantastic. First a fresh salad and then a perfectly cooked basil risotto topped with burrata cheese.Also the dessert was light and tasty!
