Earlier today, we went into Croydon for a cream tea. Extremely disappointed. Then on the drive back to the campsite, we found a sign for this place. Freshly cooked scones, amazing grounds and a great cup of tea. When we think of Devonshire cream tea, this is what we expected! And the peacocks roaming free was a lovely touch. The Hotel setting is lovely as are the self catering cottages but not convinced by the restaurant. I have only eaten there once and perhaps they had a bad night. At £30 a head for a fixed menu selected in advance I expected better than ok food and expected what we had pre-ordered two days before not changes, frozen food and salad on hot plates for example.
