Poki Star - Huntington Beach

I'm not an expert on Poki, but I really enjoyed my first visit here. The staff was very helpful in explaining the options, and there was a wide variety to choose from. The regular bowl was more than enough to satisfy any lunch appetite, and all the ingredients tasted fresh, especially the fish, which was tender. There was a steady stream of customers during lunchtime, which shows that people clearly enjoy this spot!

Their Volcano #2 sauce is outstanding and not overly spicy.

Poki Star in Huntington Beach is our favorite place for poke takeout. They offer a variety of fish and spicy options, which I really appreciate. One of the things I enjoy most is being able to customize my order with different levels of heat in the sauces. A unique feature at Poki Star is the choice of black rice in addition to white and brown rice as a base. I love the selection of add-ins and toppings, and the young staff is always friendly and attentive. The shopping center also has a Starbucks, Bubba Sweets, Taco Bell, and several other sit-down restaurants!

My husband recently introduced me to the half white rice/half salad option, and I have to say, it’s fantastic! I used to end up with so much leftover rice, but this makes the meal feel much lighter. We typically order the large bowl for $15.99, with half rice and half salad. We add 3 scoops of tuna, 2 scoops of salmon, crab meat, edamame, and avocado (which costs an additional $1.50), along with masago, ginger, and sesame seeds. I’m considering skipping the seaweed salad from now on since it’s not worth the extra $1.50 compared to the avocado! We top it off with house sauce (ponzu) and a drizzle of eel sauce. Everything is always very fresh. Since we live so close to this location, it will definitely become a regular spot for takeout for us!

The restaurant is extremely clean, and the staff is very friendly. The food is excellent and reasonably priced. Rating for the food: 5/5.
