Unfortunately, the meat was very chewy and not tender at all. The food arrived warm but needed to be sent back for reheating. Another member of our party had the three-meat plate, and the pork ribs and brisket were tough, clearly not cooked slowly. The hot link was decent, similar to what you'd find in a roadside diner. As Texans, we were disappointed that it wasn't mesquite smoked. Additionally, there was no children's menu available.
On a positive note, the brisket was well-prepared and had some nice end cuts, but the slices were dry and no sauce was provided. The brisket sandwich was fatty and tough, making it difficult to eat without a fork, especially after I added my own Jack Daniel’s barbecue sauce to it. Overall, I hope to see improvements as they find their footing in this new location.
The real issue was that there was confusion around the menu, particularly regarding the "plate selections" that didn’t clearly indicate which cuts of meat were available. The owner had already decided how to handle the situation without wanting to listen to us. We simply wanted to order a different dish, but he seemed to judge us based on where we were from and made assumptions about our preferences. His solution was to take away the three meat choices we had selected and replace them with a short rib plate, adding an extra portion as a misguided attempt to remedy the situation. This was far from what we wanted. We're a family that recently returned from Texas, where we sampled some of the best BBQ and were eager to extend our culinary experience. However, this place didn’t live up to our expectations of Texas BBQ. My tri-tip was cut too thin, almost sashimi-style, and slathered in BBQ sauce, which I personally don’t like. My second choice, the hot links, consisted of a large serving of inexpensive meat drenched in sauce. The sides were very standard and lacked any creativity. In Texas, even coleslaw can be made exciting with unique ingredients like green chile mac and cheese or serrano-glazed Brussels sprouts. I found myself overwhelmed by the blandness of the coleslaw and frustrated by the way the owner dismissed our concerns regarding our order. The waiter mixed up the rib tips for my tri-tip and the short ribs we had asked for, which took us 20 minutes to clarify. The atmosphere of the restaurant was nice and clean, and we had high hopes for the experience. Unfortunately, we cannot support a business where the owner treated us in such a dismissive manner. It would have been better if they had focused on improving their BBQ rather than getting caught up in the drama of our order.
This was my second visit here, this time a group of 7. most of us ordered the Brisket sandwich, one got the brisket plate. I thought it was okay. the sandwiches had a lot of meat on them, but it was hardly luke warm. Macn cheese was delicious, but the noodles were over cooked. it also needed salt pepper, but there were none on the table. the Bbq beans were spicy, but very sweet. I didn't like her. the huged greens were amazing. She said she'd come back, just for her! the potato salad was good, but not my favorite. pleasant atmosphere, friendly service, but a bit expensive for just good eating.
Great food and service. I got the pulled pork, cornbread and spicy ranch beans. Wife got the pulled pork sandwich and mac and cheese. Everything had amazing flavor and the service was on point.
