China River - Humble

When we brought this to the attention of the waitress, as well as the so-called manager, Mireya (or a name similar), we were disappointed to find that they refused to provide us with a fresh drink or a clean cup. Given the ongoing concerns about COVID and other viruses, we believe that offering a new drink in a fresh cup should be standard practice, yet the staff was unhelpful. Every attempt to escalate the issue to the manager or owner was fruitless. I regret to say that I will not return to this establishment nor recommend it to others due to their poor customer service and the rude, careless behavior of the staff. As an update, I tried to approach the owner (the woman in the photo) to discuss the issue politely, but she responded rudely and refused to take down our photo. She even ignored our concerns after being informed of the mix-up. I urge everyone to be cautious, as the conditions here might expose you to health risks.

I ordered dinner from there, and it was delivered to me. Someone knocked on my door, but when I asked who it was, nobody responded. After an hour, I tried to check on my order, but my call went straight to a recorded message, and I still hadn’t received my food. It seemed like my number had been blocked, and I could see that a transaction had gone through with my bank. I was so disappointed! I know their food is usually good, but this experience has really upset me and caused the company to lose a once very loyal customer.

China River brought back memories for my husband and me of the Chinese restaurant we frequented during our college days nearly 30 years ago, complete with paper Zodiac table settings. We opted for different lunch specials: I had shrimp with vegetables, steamed rice, and hot soup, while he chose sesame chicken with fried rice and a wonton soup. We requested both dishes to be made spicy, and we were both pleased with the generous portions. We also ordered some egg rolls to enjoy.

If I could give this establishment zero stars or negative stars, then I would. The atmosphere of this place was warm, friendly, welcoming and pleasant. However, I have a strong contempt for the meal I loved yesterday. The rice was semi-cooked; hardly any vegetables in the Mongolian cattle comb; some of the meat was reduced. Even the egg rolls were under sub par. This is the best explanation I could give at the terrible meeting with the food. China River in 2013 didn't taste like what I had yesterday. I'm used to cook my kitchen thoroughly and properly. All I can say is different generation, different chefs will consist of different flavors that are not susceptible.

I visited this restaurant today, the service was decent, the food was good except the rice. It tasted like it was not freshly made but like it was taken out of the fridge and warmed up. Attentions was nice since we first walked in. I?d come back, thank you!
