I go all the time to this place and bring new people with me and I will come lately, but lately, you chefs overdo it with the salt and we need to send the things back, unless they do something about it. for my last two visits, everyone on my party said that eating is just too salty.
I didn't love it here. The food is good, for sure. However, the experience felt very chaotic and I didn't like the ambiance. That is just an opinion, though; If you're going for taste, it is good!
The menu looks delicious, however, the execution is lacking. Our table ordered the pancake board which was beautiful and delicious, it was a fun treat for the kids. Our server was very kind and attentive. The restaurant had a mothers day gift (a plastic tumbler cup with straw), which was a nice touch, although not my personal choice. Of our meals, our poached eggs were either fully hard, or barely cooked at all which was disappointing. My husband ordered Shrimp and Grits. There were about 4 overcooked shrimp...and no grits. It was served over potatoes...so either they gave us someone else's substitute meal or the kitchen wasn't on the same page about their meal offerings. Our server did bring out grits which were very good. One of our water cups tasted and smelled like last night's beer indicating the cup was dirty. And the bellinis were mostly champagne with a small bit of fruit puree in the bottom of the glass, with a maraschino cherry. The server was again, very kind and replaced the water cup promptly. Overall the food was just ok and we probably will not return, but our service was good.
Great good and some waiters are better than others. My only advice to the waiters is that when we ask for extra things like jam, or creamer, that you bring them in a plate and not your hands. You want to make sure that the service experience is always up to par with the quality of food being served which is awesome. I love your happy hours, your good, the ambiance and the wine list. Excellent choices. Last week, I went for brunch and the waiter 's attitude just didn 't match the experience, he acted like everything we asked for was a headache for him. I would just remind the wait staff that they must always remember to say, I don 't know but I 'd be happy to check...etc. Just remind the staff that we could eat anywhere but we choose YOU, Union Kitchen, so the service has to be kind and inviting. Other than that, we love you.
This was my very first time at the Washington Location and I was highly disappointed. The bellaire location was always my to go to but Unfortunately it’s no longer. Reservations was 11:00 it took er over an hour to get a bottle of champagne for mimosa. At the time we originally order 2 so it took her additional time to bring the other bottle with the juices. Our waiter left again for several minutes and a few of my party had got up left. When she did arrive she had the nerves to rush everyone with their order and still didn’t get the orders right. After waiting over 1.5 hours there was absolutely no reason to complain and send food back. We tried to make the best of it since it’s my daughters 12th birthday and her family came all the way down just to have brunch with her. My daughter wanted to TikTok her entire experience (she is a newly food blogger) but she didn’t because because the mood was killed. We didn’t stay to enjoy our food because she wanted to just pack it up to go.
