I had two smothered pork chops, mac and cheese, rice, collard greens, cornbread, and grape Kool-Aid, and let me tell you if I could describe the flavor food sensation that I experienced when the magnificent addictive flavor food sensation and plethora of magic stimulating my different taste glands I'll leave it like this....????????????...IT WAS AMAZING!!! Definitely a must eat Houston eatery. Hey say everything is bigger in Texas and soul food by Catherine definitely solidify that saying. If you are ever in Houston this is a place that will change your lifeVegetarian options: The Greens are outta this world

Good hometown food. We had the meatloaf and mashed potatoes. They also offer fried shrimp, gumbo, chitterlings and gumbo.Food: 4/5

Very disappointed. Had to try the fried ribs. All but one was wildly overcooked and thus very hard and dry. The one that wasn't overcooked was a better eat, but all were over salted terribly. I also think this dish also needed some sort of sweet heat dipping sauce. The sides: mac cheese, collards, mashed potatoes and gravy. None was particularly remarkable. The gravy was not even a gravy; just a grey blob. Pretty tasteless. Once I dressed of the collards and mac with Tony C's and hot sauce with wine vinegar on the collards, they were better.Also decided to try both the lemon cake and lemon pound cake. Was not thrilled with either. First, you couldn't tell which was the pound cake as neither had the requisite density. So the unfrosted one will be pound cake, and it was a miss on the density, lemon flavor and buttery-ness. It was extremely moist, though. The frosted cake was very moist, but again, almost totally lacking in lemon flavor and zest. The frosting was a joke! It was just confectioners sugar and water(!! , and it was a runny mess.

If anyone says this place is good they are lying tuff lol. Nothing is homemade the meatloaf ain’t meat lmaoo y’all must be related saying this is good. Mac and cheese comes in a bag I use to work there lmaoo no flavor all the fried stuff is good because they cook it fresh. This place is a joke. I can cook all that they have on the menu 100x better don’t believe me try me @teasoprettii on instagram

The beans and mashed potatoes were good but the oxtail.. man let me tell you.They had no flavor. I figured since the gravey looked dark and was hot it would have a good taste, but that wasn’t the case.The older lady, she was a sweetheart. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve heard the fried stuff is great because it’s freshly made but I’m not sure what happen with those oxtail.
