I hadn't heard of Nuksy's table until perusing the takeout options for Houston Restaurant Weeks in early August. Z and I were craving steak and were excited to find a spot within walking distance in Midtown. We didn't do much research before placing our order, instead finding ourselves impressed by the quantity of food we would be getting for the set HRW dinner menu price. We opted for the crab and crawfish mac and cheese, grilled ribeye and seafood jambalaya pasta, brussels sprouts, green beans and mashed potatoes, and for dessert the red velvet shortcake and chocolate mousse. We were able to call in our order by phone before walking to their restaurant to pick it up. Flash forward 20 minutes as we walked up to what looked like a house in a residential area. There were a couple cars parked in front, and we were confused until we saw a banner for Nuksy's Table catering. Upon walking inside, we found a cashier and a couple tables with patrons enjoying drinks before heading to the dining room on the other side of the house. It seemed like parking would probably be an issue here (valet only) since there aren't any spots at the front. We were able to pay pretty quickly and headed back home to enjoy our feast. Overall, the meal was decent but not quite what I was expecting for HRW prices. The crawfish mac and cheese was a pleasure and we both loved the steak. The pasta was also decent and creamy with a solid quantity, and the green beans were well seasoned and tasty. Unfortunately, the brussels sprouts were rather soggy and the mashed potatoes were underwhelming. The red velvet shortcake was also decent, though the chocolate mousse was very tasty and rich I would recommend that one! I will qualify my takes on the food with it being a takeout experience, so not quite as fresh as it would be in restaurant. Overall this is a new restaurant starting out and making a name for themselves in Midtown. I'm not sure if I would stop by again but generally enjoyed the meal and our interactions with the staff were pleasant.
