Mamasan Sushi - Houston

While looking for a place to catch up with a friend, we decided to give this nearby sushi restaurant a try. It has quickly become our favorite spot. Every single time, the food is incredible, and the service is excellent! Food: 5/5

The food was excellent, and the sashimi was definitely fresh, which is crucial. We visited on a Saturday afternoon, so it was quite quiet, and the service was good since we were the only customers there. However, the prices are on the higher side (as of June 2023), which is why I deducted a star from my rating. For lunch for two, we ordered calamari, an egg roll, and 20 pieces of nigiri/sushi, totaling $109 before tax, bringing the total to $118 with water.

Not a good sushi place AT ALL. I am usually not a picky eater but this place made everything very sweet. From the miso soup to the “spicy” sushi rolls everything tasted sweet. Not only that, but the volcano roll was disgusting. They soaked it in WAY TOO much sauce. It’s literally been the worst sushi experience ever.

I've lived in Japan for 3 years. I can appreciate Japanese food. The Unagi was great. Also had Gyoza which met my expectation. Not bad. Would come here again.Food: 4/5
