Luby's - Houston

The food was excellent for Thanksgiving today. I went for something non-traditional and had liver and onions, which really impressed me. It was delicious! The rest of my family ordered the traditional Thanksgiving menu, and they enjoyed it as well. Thank you to Lucy for a job well done, and Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

I usually have a good experience at this restaurant, except for one time when a lady at the counter insisted that I hadn't bought a drink, even though the other staff confirmed that I had. However, today was a totally different story. I placed an order through DoorDash, and when it arrived, the engraving looked nothing like what I expected; it didn’t resemble the cream engraving or even any kind of proper engraving. To make matters worse, my steak was overly salted. I really think the people responsible for preparing orders need to be replaced. I ended up having to fix the engraving myself.

The floors were filthy. I can only imagine what the kitchen looks like behind those greasy swing doors. The fried steak I ordered tasted like it had been cooked in rancid oil. The green beans were from a can, and the mashed potatoes were instant. The cream was thick, cold, and unpleasant, resembling something you wouldn't want to eat. The dinner rolls were rubbery at best. Everything was bland and unseasoned, except for the roast chicken, which was bitter and tasted like it was made yesterday. At least it had some flavor, though it wasn't good. This place is truly terrible. Honestly, your best bet would be to head to the McDonald's a bit further down the road. You'd be better off rummaging through a garbage bin for a meal than eating here.

The line workers have extremely bad attitudes specifically the young man on vegetables and the short woman on bread. No name tags or I would put them here. The food was lukewarm and the dining room is nasty. I had to walk around to find a clean table. This is not my first unpleasant experience but I thought I would give them another try. This is the LAST time I?ll come to this location. Management should definitely address this.
