Izakaya Wa - Houston

This charming little Japanese restaurant offers a delightful variety of appetizers and grilled skewers beyond just sushi. I wouldn’t recommend visiting when you’re very hungry, as the portion sizes are a bit small and the prices are on the higher side. However, I really enjoyed the memorial roll, the five spice roll, and the chicken thigh skewers. If you’re unsure about which roll to try, I suggest going with their signature roll. For a table of four, our total was around $50 each. If you're looking for a larger meal, you might want to consider an all-you-can-eat sushi option. However, if you're in the mood for higher quality and more unique dishes, this is definitely the place to check out.

What a great place! We went on a Sunday evening and luckily they had space for us. It was otherwise packed. Everything was delicious! I loved everything. I scraped the curry which was super savory. The potato croquette was perfectly crispy. And the nigiri was so fresh and priced just right. The staff were quick and efficient. Plenty of space in the parking lot and lots of outdoor seating as well. I'll definitely be back when I'm in the area!

Love that Izakaya Wa is near my office. When I'm craving sushi, this place is always my first choice. Most of the time I always order the half and half special. Which is half portion rice bowl with sushi and half portion udon or soba. The udon always seems freshly made and the broth is *chef kiss*. Sushi is always chef choice. Sushi is always fresh here. We love everything about this place. One favorite appetizer is the nasu toromiso (not pictured).

It's best to make a reservation before your visit, as walk-ins may experience long wait times. The food is absolutely incredible. I ordered freshly grated wasabi, and it was a world apart from the synthetic kind. I highly recommend it!
