Without a doubt, these are the best egg tarts in Houston. They strike the perfect balance of sweetness, complemented by a buttery, flaky crust. This classic Chinese bakery also offers a fantastic selection of sweet and savory buns, and I always make sure to pick up their mango mochi whenever it's in stock.
The egg tarts were tasty, but I’m giving this place three stars because of some questionable customer service. The staff member claimed the tarts were fresh out of the oven, but they were actually just at room temperature—not hot at all. I didn’t mind too much since I was getting a dozen to go. Then, he mentioned there would be a $5 fee for card payments, while cash would have no extra charge. I expected that, as it's a common practice at many Asian-owned businesses. However, I was caught off guard when I agreed to pay in cash and he suddenly mentioned a $0.75 fee for that. Seriously? In the end, he didn’t charge me the $0.75, though.
The egg tarts here are the best pastry in the city and that's not an exaggeration
