My experience is based on the pollen a la brasa, I have not tried any other dishes. I ordered 1/4 of pollen a la brasa white huh. However, I have 1/8 or a little more than that, but definitiw not 1/4 (see photo.) the boom was far missing the breast tip. first I thought that was a mistake that they only serve me 1/8. However, I was told that in our countries they are mostly more serving. this phrase makes me think they are not peruan (which makes sense because they also sell food from other South American countries.) but they wanted me to think that this is common in the usa. I have lived in different states and tried 4 restaurants in houston and they always gave me a complete 1/4 chicken. 1/4huh contains full 1 wing with full side part of the chest (including the tip.) 1/4 of a chicken is universal. Everyone knows. then they told me that the chef cut it a little bit high when he segmented it part from the 1/4 dark huh. as you can see on the photo, it was not just a little high. it was clearly high. if the cook is the problem, get rid of another one to cut the chicken because this cut was clearly off. then, because I complained, they gave me another piece with the same cut. that makes me think that los andes 1/4 cut of pollen a la brasa is always like this: not a real/universal 1/4 cut of white chicken. Should we go from now on into any restaurant and ask if the 1/4 chicken is full or less than 1/4? los andes must correct this. Otherwise, more people will feel betrayed. I also feel insulted when they said that they serve more or normal 1/4h. that just happened to me in los andes. I tried a La-Basa in many restaurants in birmingham, chicago, miami, los angeles and houston and was never like that. Maybe they are better for other dishes, but definitely not for pollen a la brasa.
I'm super stolen to have found this little yet tasteful place! I love to eat Peruvian, especially the kevich. we ordered everything from the tequenos, empanadas, ceviche mixto and the Lomo saltado. first the empanadas were full of bark and juicy. I had empanadas at another place where they jump out on the bark and more kartoffel than anything that was not the case. the ceviche was finger licking good. finally, the lomo was so soft and tender. very impressed by the amount of taste that they packaged on each plate. I wish I had been dessert, but honestly I was full. I guess I have another reason to come back. try them out! be patient too, they were super busy, but that's worth waiting.
Andes is one of my favorites on the post market. it is also healthy as they can change the side of fritten to salate. try their kokos garnel curry rice! I can't find a photo here, but this is the best!
Hands down best ceviche ive ever had! Truly an experience. The chef should be given a Michelin star! His combination of flavors bring you closer to the culture in a subtle yet direct transportation to his history.
