The service is excellent, and for a family-owned restaurant, they serve some of the best pizza I have ever had, and I've traveled all over the world. If you're feeling hungry, I highly recommend their patenkuchen—it is absolutely phenomenal!
The service was below expectations; the staff appeared to be unhappy in their roles. There were around eight different pizzas on the buffet, and I tried three varieties, none of which were particularly tasty. The salad bar was decent, and I had a small plate; the house dressing was flavorful. I enjoy crackers with my salad, and the combination of saltiness and the club was nice. The dessert pizzas were enjoyable, especially the chocolate, Bavarian cream, and cinnamon varieties. I also took some chocolate chip cookies home. The total for two of us came to $28 before tip, which I believe was a reasonable price.
I only went to Rod's Pizza because my friends wanted to. I won't choose to eat there again. My wife doesn't like it either. The salad bar has a good selection and nice flavors, but the Sunday pizza buffet is quite bland. I couldn't find any pizza on the buffet that I enjoyed. It's expensive for pizza that isn't very good. I had the meatball dish there before, and that was better.
The garlic bread was great. they need a pickle of salatable. not a great fan of the godfather pizza. or whatever it means. children liked it quite well and the atmosphere was pretty good
Very good Deep-Dish Pizzas! Not a truly *authentic* Chicago pizza, but still excellent nonetheless. What I also really enjoyed, was the expansive toppings list, in addition to multiple sauce options. Now, I don't know how they did it, but their pizza was not greasy, at all! Would definitely order again!
