We’ve stopped here for fresh produce in the past but never visited the cafe. The coffee was good (and generous in size) brought out to us in the limited outdoor space. Being on the Carfax, it was a sub trap and a good place to while away time, people watching. The service was friendly, prompt and attentive all good reasons to support a local coffee shop over one of the chains.
I paid £5.40 for a small sausage roll and a sandwich that only had one thin slice of cheese and no butter. There was just a small amount of sauce on it and the bread was not soft. I had to fold the cheese over to try to make up for the lack of filling and ended up only being able to eat half the sandwich. It was disappointing and felt like a rip-off.
I contacted Crates regarding a birthday hamper for a family member living locally to the shop. What a real treat to find a shop that really wants to help you give them some business online and I have nothing but very high praise for their caring attitude, help with choosing contents of the hamper and delivery when they said they would do it. The gift was received with excitment and joy. What a wonderful shop. Once the lockdown has eased I shall definitely be visiting in person. Thank you very much.
Although a relatively small shop it sells amazing locally sourced produce sausages/burgers as well as veggies and a variety of gins. I'm told the coffee shop is certainly worth a visit too.
