The guava cream cheesy pastry was delicious, light and tasty. The coffee was also pretty good. The orange juice was the first indication that all was not well. It tasted like watered-down concentrate. The waffle was squishy. I tried to order one of the breakfast biscuits, but was told that despite it being after 10am they hadn’t made the biscuits yet. I’m not sure when they are expecting people to eat breakfast, but that struck me as a little late. I opted for the prosciutto and fig panini. At $18, I had expected more than the flat, meagerly filled sandwich I got. The mixed greens that accompanied were fresh and tasty, but overall it was overpriced and disappointing. Should have stopped at the pastry and coffee. One star for friendly service. One for the ambience. Just one for the food.
Wow. The aesthetics in this cute place was perfection. The girl at the counter was so chill and had a great calming vibe about her and the music playing made me feel like I was in a completely different place. This is by far the cutest cafe I’ve visited in years and I travel a lot. The coffees were delicious and the choice in milk alternatives were good. We bought the biscuits and savory scones and I could smell it all the way up the stairs in my hotel room. This whole place is a gem! If you are in town it’s a must!
Be prepared to spend 29 percent more than whatever you buy here, as they add a 20 percent gratuity on top of the tax for ANY order. I always tip for good service, but asking for gratuity up front is not ok. I ordered a hot chocolate, first time was barely lukewarm. I asked to have it heated up a bit more, took the smallest sip and literally, not figuratively, burned my tongue. It had to been nearly boiling temperature. I politely asked for a refund and left. On the us side, the place looks great, situated below an old 1890s hotel.
I visited this restaurant for the first time and had a fantastic experience—hot chai and delicious scones. On my second visit, however, things weren’t quite as good. They had no baked goods available, but they said the cookies would be ready in just two minutes, and they had one scone left from the previous day. I decided to order the last scone, along with two cookies and a hot chai, which came to $21. I understand it's a small town and that prices can be high these days, but unfortunately, the chai was lukewarm, the cookies weren't fully baked, and the scone was just average. Sadly, I don't think I will return for a third visit.
Paying six dollars for a black coffee feels excessive, but I understand—thank you, inflation. However, if you’re going to charge that much, the coffee should at least be decent, right? Unfortunately, mine tasted more like lukewarm, dirty water. Were they out of coffee beans that day? On a positive note, the woman behind the counter was friendly and had a great smile. The café also had some interesting rock decorations and other neat items.
