We booked to stay here on Air B&B for a night over the Easter weekend (2022) for the latter point. The booking confirmation came through and the payment was taken two nights before. We went to check in around 17:00 and they had sold our room to someone else! They had no rooms left and so we had to quickly book elsewhere. Luckily we managed to book somewhere in Buxton (20 min drive). That's beyond unacceptable management and poor at best! Thankfully we were able to find somewhere over the busy Easter weekend. But it was sheer luck there was a room available elsewhere, there weren't any other places available close by. We live only an hour away, so whilst it would've been disappointing had we not found somewhere else to stay, it would've been okay. But imagine if you life 2-3 hours and booked to stay here! The local and surrounding area is popular for hikers and books up fast! That's a long drive home! The pub looked old, tired, small and full of down and out local loud laddish lads. The reviews weren't great to begin with, and the hotel we managed to get in Buxton was great! So perhaps this was a blessing in disguise. There's lots more classy pubs and far nicer places to stay in Hope or Castleton. I honestly wouldn't give this place your time, energy or money, let alone trust in your booking confirmation! This place is one to avoid!
Having drinks and chats with rambler. Will re-visit again.
Owners and staff are very friendly, its a great atmosphere and dogs are more than welcome in there.
I just wanted to thank Diane for a wonderful evening, we loved her style. We were impressed and enjoyed our meal at Pop restaurant. Joel and Em.
After a long walk, we stopped by this restaurant for a couple of beers. The staff was friendly and the beer was delicious. They even allowed dogs, making it a great spot for pet owners.
