Jambo Grill - Hoover

This restaurant has new owners who are not familiar with OpenTable reservations. Additionally, OpenTable does not list their business hours.

I made a reservation for 11:00 AM on Mother’s Day, but the restaurant was closed. It seems they didn’t open until 1:00 PM. There were other people also trying to enter, so we certainly weren’t the only ones affected by this. I won’t be returning after this experience.

Everything was nice, although the goat was a bit dry and the cabbage had a burnt flavor, as if they had tried to mask it. However, overall, it wasn't a terrible experience.

Different Cook this time. The bhai as as a little over cooked, but enjoyable, and someone put peppers in the jollof rice! On the flip side, the Kenyan Sampras and the Jamaican beef patties were phenomenal! I highly recommend the goat stew with spinach and rice on the side. Also, you will do yourself a disservice if you do not try the African Sunrise or the Hakuna Matata!

Nice cultural change of palate. Worth the adventure to try new things.
