I went to this place for only the Poke bowls, as I heard some good reviews of it. I chose the large bowl $19 USD), which gave you two options to select which protein you want. I chose the oyster's oyster. I chose my personal preference that was the spicy Wasabi Ahi. I also chose the Hijiki rice and the seaweed salad for my pages. I really liked it and find it pretty addictive! The second time with some mates, they really liked it!
Last time (December 2021) I just tried and liked it very much. I tried again this time. Before that time, my favorite picnic was Young's, but it was slightly salty. Yama was not salty, and the pig was so juicy and tender. I also like their composition of the pages (Lomi-Salate, Haupia and Poke). Recommend this place. They have best poke and luke in the city.
Very good food. Fresh and many different items to choose from the local kitchen. Neighbourhood is not the best. Many homeless pepe where restaurant is so cautious, but restaurant and food is amazing. Everything is super fresh and delicious. They also have the pig in leaves and some very amazing sauces. Absolutely authentic island food is served here. Service is also super attentive and friendly. Unfortunately, there is no din since July 2021. But hey... we just took the amazing food to the hotel room and enjoy it best. Deserts were also very good. Not sure you can call it desert, but it was good. Sweet potatoes... I can't remember those names. Somehow, don't hesitate to try this place. I highly recommend it.
Yama's, is a family business that is an absolute must try at least once when you live in Hawaii or are a visitor. Food, search places like this when you try to find a local / Hawaiian food experience cooked outside of home. The prices can be expensive, but the quality is worth the cost, and the variety is really great to get the type of food that is getting harder and harder to find here regularly. In other words, traditional food for local people on the fly. The deserts are also so good that you literally observe how the money flies out of your wallet, and think it's the biggest thing you've ever seen. The shelves store a bit harder to find treats, sauces and snacks that only local people really appreciate. The fish is fantastic, but expensive, but that's okay. I've seen people cry in the store crying back in childhood memories, food and times. Whatever... we love it and we regularly go there. My goal is always to keep my wife from getting crazy and spending more than $100.00.
I got the grilled ahi plate and was pleasantly surprised! The fish was incredibly fresh and seasoned to perfection. The rice was nice and warm and Mac salad was super yummy. I will say with the sauce, it ends up being a little salty. Don’t sleep on the grilled ahi, it’s got that clout. Would come again, top 5 places to visit!
