Vons Chicken - Honolulu

A hidden treasure! While my wife was undergoing oral surgery, I had some time to spare, so I decided to grab lunch at Vons. The woman at the counter was incredibly friendly, and even the customers picking up their takeout were sharing their favorite menu items. I tried the spicy sauce, which was a delightful mix of sweet and spicy (but not overly hot). Although this place isn’t designed for sit-down dining, there are a couple of chairs at a ledge counter. I’ll definitely be returning!

Crispy and tasty although pricey. Next day, I reheated the leftovers in an oven and there were still good.

So, what is a vegan doing at this restaurant? My Taiwanese wife and daughter are fans of just one dish here: the shoyo chicken wings. I found that out the hard way! This place isn’t exactly budget-friendly. The owner is Korean, but it seems that Asian communities, in general, really enjoy the food. It must be quite addictive, like chicken feet... wow!

The chicken wings are extremely flavorful and have a perfect crispiness. I also tried the rice cake, which had a bit of a spicy kick. However, I wasn't a fan of the corn, as it tasted like it came straight from a can.

I walk or bike by this place on my way to work several times a week. Every time I have to resist the urge to stop in it's that good. I've tried their garlic chicken and spicy fried wings. Expect to wait 15 20 minutes, since its always made to order. The foods crispy and perfectly prepped. I recommend this place on your cheat day!
