Marugame Udon - Honolulu

Sick of waiting in line at the shop in Waikiki? Then check out this location at the corner of Fort Street Mall and Hotel. Once the lunch rush is over, you'll enjoy excellent service with no wait time!

We usually frequent the Waikiki location, but this time we decided to try the downtown branch instead. The food is consistently excellent, just like at Waikiki. When we arrived, they were preparing fresh shrimp tempura, which made me really excited to try it. Since it was our first visit to this location, we got a bit lost because the GPS said we had arrived when we passed Walmart. We eventually found street parking and had to walk about two blocks. We later discovered there was an hour of parking validation available in the garage. Overall, the food is delicious and just as consistent as in Waikiki. The staff is attentive and friendly. If you're in the downtown area and craving Marugame, definitely check it out!

An absolute must-visit! It will set the standard for all your future comparisons.

Good place to sit down and enjoy a bowl of udon that you can pick and choose the toppings that you want. Lots of different options for those with food sensitivities and dietary restrictions. Basically you go up to the counter to choose your broth and noodle amount with some extra toppings like green onion and bonito flakes, move down the line to choose what fried toppings you want to add on top, and move on to the payment counter to pay for your food. They also have a water dispenser that you can go and get your own refills, as well as some spices and ginger available for some additional flavor to your bowl of udon. The quality is also really good. The noodles are freshly prepared and boiled right where you pick up your bowl before getting to the toppings line. The broth choices are pretty plentiful as well, so you can have something different each week for about 2 months with some varieties being doubled with a cold broth option. Overall a decent place to stop by and get some udon the way you want it.

I like this location so much better than the one in Waikiki. Never a long line.
