Service, foods and price are great. Off the beaten path. Crowd can get loud as they get drunk. Don't use restrooms.
I usually don’t leave reviews but felt like I had to. We were waiting outside for 10min without anyone to greet us, when I finally walked inside, I was told “wait outside”. I asked for wait time which was 20-30min, we put down our name and came back in 10min and the table was given to someone after us because we weren’t here. We were told “you should be here”.The food was decent, garlic shrimp was one of the best I’ve had, several other dishes including agedashi tofu and chicken skewer were too mild for my taste. Food was served in a quick fashion. Atmosphere was warm, small restaurant overall with cozy feeling. When we finally asked for the check, we were told tip was already included which was 18%, mind that we are only a party of three adults and one child.Overall food was good but dining experience was one of the worst I have had in Honolulu. I don’t mind a long wait for good food but the series of events was very upsetting, especially for our last meal in Honolulu.
Oishi is a wonderfully cozy restaurant in the Waikiki area. Everything we tried was absolutely delicious, and the prices were surprisingly reasonable for this area. If I lived here, I would definitely make this a regular dining spot. I would give it a 5 out of 5 for the food.
Small cozy little hole in the wall, it reminded me of the izakayas in Tokyo.Hubs and I were wandering around and looking for some beer and small bites. I suggested we go here. We ordered the pickled cucumber, chicken yakitori, pork belly, and the mackerel. Beer and foods were reasonably priced, but it was okay at best. Pickled cucumbers weren't really pickled, it was salted and tossed with sesame oil ... pork belly was a bit dry, it came with gochujang which I thought that was kind of weird for a Japanese Izakaya ... the chicken yakitori was probably the best. The mackerel was not worth mentioning.I wish I had a better review because I really wanted to like this place. Sadly I don't think I'll be back.
