We started with cocktails - a beautifully balanced drink with Tequila, Mezcal, Aperol, Avocado Pit orgeat (so creative!!, and probably some citrus. I forget the name. For dinner we tried a Pork Carnitas Taco, a Carne Asado Taco, Chips Guac Salsa and Street Corn. The whole food was amazing- well seasoned and great flavor combination. The chips definitely taste like they're doing them in the house. After that we loaded some Mezcals to try. You had a pretty solid selection- some that you could find more common (such as Bozal, Alipus, and the Del Maguey Lineup and some that I had not yet heard that were super tasty! They traditionally served their mezcals with orange slices and Sal de Gusano (worm salt! . I wish her Mezcals were served in this tone of Copitas to really listen to tradition even more! Service was great. The bartender helped us a bunch and answered our millions of questions. I know when you visit Hawaii, your way to is probably Tiki drinks, but branch off and go check this Mezcaleria. You will not be disappointed!
Good professional servers with quite expensive large food cocktails in a historic location. The only thing mo’betta would be to move the TV monitor away from such a beautiful back bar layout. (Let the Olive Garden etc. have the sport theme... plus seemed to offer the staff more entertainment than the cartridges)
Great Lunch Tacos I recommend the Burrito bowls can not go wrong with either the Baja fish or Carne Asada bowl. My office eats here at least once a week. Service is good food is fast and always tasty
What can you say honestly about this place? Could you say the ambience is Whack? I would definitely not say! It has a kind of vibe of Portland that can be found here in Oahu. Music was perfectly mixed some local radio tunes with a mixture of other great melodies. Didn't hear a bad song! Could you say the service is sucked? Not from our experience! We loved our bartender (Clarissa) and the bar back was Johnny on site when it came to bring us our food and clean our plates and empty glasses. Our bartender always had an eye on our beers, the review in the perfect time to fill us again. Could you say the food was garbage? I'm sure I'd contradict myself! I tried 5x of their tacos and each one was absolutely delicious jam full of taste! The deconstructed Elote aka Mexican corn was bomb.com! We saw a few next to us who got the corn and chips w/guacamole and also used chips for the corn. Touche neighbor and great thinking. Save the trick for our next visit. We have tried to find GOOD tasting mexican on the island since here in April and this is the second place we found w/ Taqueria La Marea is the other and a MUST TRY if you haven't! Just pay attention to the missing hours/days they are open. Is the pricing of your problem? Not when it comes to drinks! A pitcher from Pacifico for $11?! Yes, please! Tecate can go for $4? Don't worry if I get 2x! And the food prices? ALL inexpensive especially considering its in Chinatown. $3.50 for a street taco is decent to consider how delicious it is! The bowl of Mexican corn was cheated or maybe after 5. Taco was so full? I usually share Pix from our food, but my phone died directly when we sit. You are 110% do VAX checks and masks are required to enter and do not eat/drink. No complaints here about them force this. Parking can be the only thing you can complain about, just because they are in Chinatown, so street parking is your option. The bike or something. Anyway, we will scrub back 110% and tell all our friends about this place!
Both times I’ve been here, it has been a beautiful experience. The service and the food is absolutely incredible! I really enjoyed my mahi-mahi bowl with the house margarita : I will for sure be coming back here with my boyfriend to try out their tequila flight : Mahalo for great service
