Curry House Coco Ichibanya - Honolulu

I've always enjoyed Mabo Tofu, the classic spicy Chinese dish made with tofu and minced meat, and since I also love Japanese curry, I thought, why not have both? It truly was a culinary delight: the Japanese rice was perfectly cooked, unlike other varieties like basmati or jasmine. The slightly sweet curry sauce paired wonderfully with whatever toppings you choose to add. A dash of Japanese spices elevated the dish even further. Coco Ichibanya has always been a dependable spot for delicious Japanese curry. While it may not be gourmet or exceptionally refined cuisine, I still give it a solid five stars!

Good stuff! A decade ago, I first fell in love with CoCo's in Japan. When I learned that there were several CoCo's o island, I made my mission to go there. I ordered my favorites: chicken stable (Katsu) with cheese. They have only mild or spicy, unlike Japanese CoCo, which offered 10 levels of heat at Japanese sites. It was good, but not as I remember. But then nothing is as good as we remember.... I try CoCo again in ten years, or rather when I feel nostalgic.

Affordable and delightful, I absolutely love Curry House! While the staff may not be particularly chatty, they are efficient and polite. The curry itself is fantastic and priced very reasonably. There are endless options for meats and vegetables to customize your curry. It’s the perfect spot to enjoy delicious curry with generous portions for about $6!

A friend of mine who lived in Japan recommended this place, so I really wanted to try. After searching the options, there were many things I wanted to try. I decided to go with what seems to be the most popular – chicken cutlet with cheese (picture). I loved this court. I never had a Cheddar cheese with Curry before and it was delicious. The curry was spicy, but not overwhelming. Before I looked into this place, I didn't even know that Curry was common in Japanese culture. I recommend you check this point. There are locations in some different cities in the USA.

Great value for the amount of food you receive. And their personal dining area is still closed, but the rest of the seating at the food court is only a few steps away. Overall I can't complain. And bring cash unless you want to pay a 3% surcharge on a purchase with a credit card.
