Compare to the HK land outlets, this outlets have way more people and the Q can be abit messy as someone tried to cut our Q when it isn’t their turn yet but it great that the worker asked them to go back to their Q. But seem like they have lesser stock if u are looking for smaller boxes cookies, as more people visit this outlet I believe. It get sold out fast. THEY ONLY ACCEPT CASH
My hotel was a few walks to Mirador Mansions where this shop is at so I went there on a Wednesday afternoon and the line is short. The line moves fast actually and they accommodate those who are decided first on what they want to buy. I bought 2 cans of different kinds because I don't want to blindly buy just because of the hype. They are heavy too and can eat a lot of baggage weight aside from being expensive cookies). Turns out it's hype for me since I don't find it too special. They feel buttery but dry at the same time. Not too sweet. I think they would taste better dipped in coffee or milk? I also bought the nougat candy which is also not too sweet but tasty and well, sticky inside the mouth. One tip is to look at the latest menu) on their site or on wherever you can find online and list and decide on what you want to buy with codes/number) before going there and lining. That saves you and everyone else's time and lets you not go overboard with what you're supposed to order. It's a little chaotic in the store and you cannot return the cookies after you buy them.
The place was busy with long lines. Workers of the bakery looked tired and not very friendly. Cookies are sold at 140 HKD per container. There was a big hype about these cookies but I personally didn't think much of them. Cookies were very buttery and creamy.
Jenny's Bakery first opened up in 2005 and somehow became a darling for mainland Chinese tourists who during the tourism heyday would line up for an hour or so to buy tins of their butter cookies for friends and family back home at this main shop in the Mirador Mansion shopping centre in TST. Prior to the pandemic, they were operated places at two floors here (ground floor unit 24) (upstairs unit 42) and you would find queues at both. For the past 3 years with Hong Kong's borders essentially closed, I would walk by and see almost no customers at all. Sometimes one or a few together but no queues like in the old days.... Then suddenly the border reopens last week and the queues at Jenny are back like clockwork. It seems the mainland tourists haven't forgotten this bakery and have returned to HK eager to pick up tins of the butter cookies that have long been a hot item on mainland tourists' food shopping lists when in the city. As for cookie quality that is the interesting thing. Some really like Jenny's, I don't find them as good as other local cookie makers like Cookies Quartet that specialised in butter cookies and old fashioned style cookies. I've also long felt their wild popularity was a tourist driven phenomenon and I think we are now seeing that as having been true based how few local people you will find at Jenny's in 2022.
