Thoughtful sommelier and the usual young, enthusiastic Black Sheep serving staff. Why not two stars next time?
Came here for our anniversary and they made the whole experience special and personalized for us. The restaurant's layout and decor was quite interesting. The service was exceptional, really happy with Lauren's attention to detail and GG's friendly service. We got the carte noire tasting menu (up to the chef's choice) and foodwise, the quality was excellent. The variety and taste of hors d'oeuvres were fantastic. The mains were no slouch either, with the turbot fish and pigeon pithivier which tasted amazing. We were so full and satisfied by the end we could barely finish the desserts. Throughout the menu, my partner and I got different items so we got to taste multiple items as well.
Every dish is delicious and the roast chicken absolutely stands out. Special thanks to the Manager Gigi’s attentive service, we had a wonderful dining experience and will certainly come back!
The roast chicken is what you should not miss (although I will go for pigeon if it's available), and they serve the best millefeuille in the town, waiters are friendly and the environment is cosy, worth to go!
Having been to the previous location frequently over the years with friends or family. I have come to really love Belon and the food.Their new location was quite hard to locate last night. Thankfully someone from the restaurant next door helped us locate it. This was the first time at their new location. The new elevated design is initially quite nice with the open kitchen by the entrance which is beautiful and the nice stairwell with wine on display to greeting you. Once seated the layout is somehow kind of strange with the curtains and drapery dividing the seating areas. Not my cup of tea personally, it's odd and seems like it's an after thought or a temporary fixture for a pop-up dining experience. The food as before was good, the service has been taken up a notch that's for sure. Service was very attentive and polite and the team are all dressed up very formally now with a somilier and captain to assist as well. The new experience at Belon gives me the impression that they seem to be trying to strive for more Michelin stars with this new elevated and intimate experience. I do however really miss that old location that had a neo rustic Parisian cafe style that was relaxed but had really sophisticated, affordable and delicious food. Dare I say, far more unique compared to the new location and when putting it in perspective with all the other fine dining choices in this city it does not stand out as much as it used to somehow. Overall we had a brilliant evening! Black Sheep never disappoints.
