Decided to try this place out after reading an article in LA Times about their chilaquiles and happened to be in the area. I got the chilaquiles with the green sauce and added carnitas and eggs, it was very flavorful, the chips were crisp yet soaked up just enough sauce. It was pretty much perfect and the guy at the window was very nice. I finished the whole thing even though it was more than I should eat in one sitting... Highly recommend.
Yesterday I was famished and headed to a vegan restaurant. While in the strip mall, I parked in front of Loiterra on Pico. I parked right in front of a video ad being displayed of the delicious Mexican food served at Loiterra. I went from wanting grains to wanting Mexican. I still wanted a vegetarian dish, so I inquired with Jim what he would suggest. He was a nice and polite gentleman, very knowledgeable about the food their. Jim is the owner. I ordered 2 enchiladas with beans and rice. He recommended the squash enchilada and a mushroom one. It sounded like it would be great and it was. Filled with sauces and cheese. I do eat cheese. It was fantastic! The presentation was great and it was absolutely delicious! By far the best tasting Mexican food I’ve ever had. Seriously . I didn’t expect it to taste so good. It was like eating food from a 5 star Mexican restaurant, but located in an unassuming strip mall. Jim owns another Loiterra in LAX. It tasted better than I could imagine! It was everything I wanted and more and the food just melted in my mouth. Thank you Jim! I’ll be seeing you soon!
Fantastic restaurant run by absolutely lovely people. Not only is the food impeccably prepared and delicious, these people really care about their customers. I have eaten at the Pico and airport locations, and accidentally left my wallet at the airport bar. I couldn’t seem to find a phone number for the airport restaurant as I had left town without my wallet. I contacted Mr. Shaw at the main location and these lovely people are FedExing my wallet to my home in Oregon. What a joy not to have to deal with LAX lost and found. these are some of the best enchiladas you’ll ever have anywhere if you try them. The rest of the food is great as well.
This chill joint has the potential to be a local hangout with a smidgeon of touristy disappointment. It 's not a place I would personally frequent, as the. Food isn 't all that amazing outside of what I could make at home, and while made with the 'freshest ' ingredients, not really worth the price you pay. The decor has a bit of swank mixed with Mexican flair, and the music changes from downtown blues to ranchera. The TV 's are usually sporting sports, and the service is only okay. The food itself is made as authentically Mexican as you could want- only without the food-borne illnesses. The burritos, the tacos, the platters, all are worth the calorie splurge, but nothing to stand up and shout about. The Burrito de Calbazas was bomb, though. My only beef with it was that it was smaller than most LA burritos I 've had. There are so many Happy Hours and specials here that I didn 't know which of the four menus I was handed to peruse first. Take a look at the boozy specials, though, because if you don 't mind the sugar, one of these cocktails bound to have your name on it. I had them make me one with a shot of espresso with Patron X2O and a bit of cream. The darn thing wasn 't half bad. Overall, I would give this place 3 stars. Why the fourth? I 'm not going to lie: Being called 'Mi Vida ' by the waitress put me in a better mood, and shows they do know how to treat their customers right half of the time. Hey, sue me. I 'm gullible.
