Zambrero - Holbrook

Normally really love Zambrero but the black rice was completely raw and inedible (I'm unsure how this even happens and can see it mentioned across a few reviews). Would have returned but passing through and now past closing time.

Good quality Mexican food, fast service with various food options.

Visited Zambrero for the first time today at the Holbrook location. I have never eaten at any other store locations before but we had been keen to try it and during our trip from VIC to NSW we stopped to have dinner. To say the state of the store is repulsive is an understatement. 2 young staff preparing food, friendly enough but sadly neglected to explain prior to ordering, that with over an hour to go before they close they had little to no stock available for the products. When I asked why a certain standard item was not put on or requested something I was told sorry we don’t have that simple menu items such as Jalapeños, beef, guacamole! The nachos literally had cheese, chicken and sour cream. When I asked why there was no stock I was told “I don’t know”. When I asked who was in charge the young man, not in any kind of uniform, replied “not me” and “not her”. I ended up telling them I wasn’t purchasing anything from there because the level of hygiene was so poor and I was clearly unable to get any kind of meal for my children, myself or my husband from them. Would have been nice if it was clean. Not hard to clean up after each customer. Need to drain salads as burrito was very soggy. The glass screen was wiped over but was still dirty. Have eaten here before but this was the worst. Sorry pick your act up. Service: Take out Meal type: Dinner Price per person: A$1–20
