I was blown away with this upscale, modern, rustic building. the environment that looked at the gletscher was spectacular. the love for the detail of the building inside and outside was amazing. then it came to eat. this is the best meal I had in island. that should be a bucket list that I don't know if jon riki is a real person or just a name of the restaurant, but who is responsible deserves a handshake.
The restaurant was hard to find. it was deep from the road and hard to see especially in the fog. I ordered the evil pot that was in order, but not amazing. the lala lamm was terrible. it was cooked, and strangely paired with grill sauce and blueberries. only these 2 items cost 70 usd.
Excellent food and fast service. we arrived at 7:45 on a grass. it was still to fill, but there were still tables. we had the lamb and the cake of shepard. both were very good. fantastic view from the dining room. they were from the ipa and the pilsner was a pilgrim.
Limited menu, but eating (and beer) is amazing. great service and atmosphere. highly recommended to make reservations, but they have some rooms for walks. we had no reservations and had no problem reaching 6.
We chose this restaurant on the strength of it's reviews. It failed to meet our expectations. In fairness, the business had just reopened post-pandemic a few days earlier. The menu offered fewer than six entrees. The only one which appealed to 3 of the 4 in our party was a Shepherd's pie made with lamb. The flavor was OK but the lamb was tough and quite gristly. It earned a thumbs down from all who ordered it. The staff was friendly and the service was good but it didn't offset the negatives of the food.
