Restaurant Kastaniengarten - Hof

We had dinner at this restaurant when staying one night at the Hotel Central Hof while driving down through Germany. The dinner was really nice. A really good and variated menu card with both internationally inspired steaks vegetarian and local dishes. All very very nice presented. Super service and a really good priced wine card. Lovely view to the Theater :

It's the restaurant from Hotel Central. It's not a cheap restaurant but fair. I have had a small menu but I ordered it without dessert and they reduced the price accordingly. Here you get very high quality food; specially the Black Angus Beef is fantastic (one of the best I ever had). Also nice ambience in addition with attentive staff. No stress or arguing with colleagues as other reviewers wrote. Waiting time is absolutely acceptable even if the restaurant is very occupied. All in all a obvious recommendation.

Being a second time guest in this hotel and restaurant within a few weeks time, I was astonished by the slow service this time. Food is good but this week I had approx 45 minutes between soup and main course. A lot of apologies and free drinks followed but I do think I will walk after 30 minutes max

The menu is small but seasonal with some regional specialties. It is pricey, but the quality is very good. They have a large selection of whines.
