This is a cozy restaurant where you can enjoy a variety of homemade dishes made with local ingredients. The specially-made tender simmered sweetfish was delicious. The mothers of people in Hitoyoshi warmly welcome you, making you feel like you are returning home. Despite suffering great damage during the flooding, they have worked hard for the community and continue to operate energetically. A miraculous large wooden horse, Kiji-kun, which was swept away during the flooding and later found in Yatsushiro Bay, serves as the protector god of the restaurant, welcoming customers. Along with your meal, be sure to visit and meet Kiji-kun. The restaurant operates by reservation only.

I visited the restaurant before a heavy rain disaster. During that time, I tried the monthly special set meal (with grilled ayu fish) and it was all delicious. It was a bit on the pricey side though. Unfortunately, there were some staff members who were not very good at customer service, which was disappointing.

If you're interested in learning about Jiuqu and fermentation, this restaurant is the perfect place to try traditional dishes in a lovely atmosphere. Highly recommended.
