Kassui-ken - Himeji

Delicious meal by the most amazing, zen view in our entire Japan trip so far. Staff doesn't speak English but their menu has English translation. The soba and tempura set as well as the beef meal set are delicious!

It's a lovey store by the garden of Himeji castle. But you have to pay entry fee for the Himeji garden in order to eat. There is also lovely view of the garden while eating. The service is quite quick and the staff are friendly. And we order the beef which is amazing but it's only roughly 2000 yen which is quite cheap.

Really delicious set menu at a great price and unbeatable view! It's worth the wait (unfortunately part of it is because they have many 4 person tables so 1-2 people can take it)

We’re so happy we visited these gorgeous gardens and had a lovely meal at this restaurant. A tip is to arrive right at opening so you can choose the best seat, which is staring into the lovely adjacent koi pond! I had the Zenzai sweet red bean soup, which I’m fairly certain was vegan. It was a delicious warm meal! I also had their iced coffee here which was just what I needed.

After visiting Himeji Castle, we visited the gardens next door (get the combo pass when you visit the Castle, which will save you money! and were starving so just decided to eat here. We had low expectations because it's inside the gardens and figured it'd be a tourist trap, but to our surprise, not only was it beautiful inside with views of the botanical gardens, but the food was very good and not too expensive! They also had a couple of sake tasting sets (3 pours , which weren't a bad value. We had a lovely lunch, got to relax inside during the heat of the day, with a gorgeous view of trees and koi. It was a perfect way to enjoy the the whole Himeji experience.
