The Temple - Hilo

I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant, from the ambiance to the service and the food! The tacos were incredible, especially the carnitas with avocado. I really enjoyed the salsa, which had a nice, mild smoky flavor. I also tried the fried rice, and it was just as delicious as it looked! I will definitely return the next time I visit the Big Island.

This is a great spot to enjoy some drinks while also savoring delicious pupus and small bites for those feeling hungry. The seared ribeye is juicy, and I highly recommend trying the torched tako salad—it's my favorite! The pan-fried kalo cassava is light and perfect for anyone on a diet. However, the seared oyster mushroom was a bit too salty for my taste, so I might skip that next time. As for drinks, the "Lime in da Coconut" is incredibly refreshing, especially with the coconut—it’s the perfect drink for a laid-back chill session. Overall, I had a great experience, and the customer service was very efficient. Enjoy your visit!

I had a fantastic experience at Temple Bar. We absolutely adored the food and sampled nearly every type of seafood. Highlights included the Garlic Prawns with fried rice, Ahi Carpaccio, Ceviche, Pork Belly poke, Belgian Mussels, and Kumamoto Oysters. Each dish was excellently prepared, especially the oysters, mussels, and Ahi, which had just the right amount of flavor. However, we did find the Pork Belly a bit too robust for our taste. The staff, including the young chef, were very attentive and charming. While the prices are on the higher side, this restaurant is definitely worth every penny.

Christen and Angelica provided us with exceptional service! I was truly impressed by how incredible the food was; every single dish was outstanding!

This place has a unique vibe; it’s not your typical bar setting with standardized seating, which makes it feel intimate. Once you arrive, take a moment to relax and enjoy the atmosphere as you watch the time slip away. It's a cozy spot to catch some games or simply enjoy the lively scene of people strolling through downtown Hilo’s Farmers Market. The cocktails here are impressive, the prices are reasonable, and the service is top-notch. I can confidently say it was one of the best happy hours I've experienced. Of course, I couldn’t resist trying some of their delightful appetizers. Two little devils appeared on my shoulders, one urging me to try the Caprese Bites, and they did not disappoint—especially when paired with a slice of prosciutto. Then the other little devil couldn’t help but tempt me with the Smokey Flatbread topped with Smoky Jalapeno. Oh my, I won’t lie—I gave in to my cravings within the welcoming confines of The Temple Bar.
