Kuhio Grille - Hilo

This is certainly not a fancy local restaurant, but the food is good and features traditional Hawaiian dishes with generous portions. I ordered the combination plate, which included teriyaki pork and a hamburger patty with gravy. It came with macaroni salad, and I opted to upgrade to fried rice. The meal was hearty and very filling. This isn't the right place if you're looking to watch your calorie intake. The service was friendly and attentive.

The staff was friendly and the service was quick. However, I can't say much about the food, as my Californian palate may not be aligned with the flavors offered here. I didn't particularly enjoy what I tried. I had the Hawaiian mixed plate and a seed bowl; while they were all edible, the bowl was probably the best of the three. Overall, the food just felt a bit unclean to me.

The dining experience was excellent, and the service was outstanding. I ordered the classic Loco Moco, which was more than I could handle. The dish featured fried rice instead of regular white rice. The atmosphere was lovely, making it a fantastic restaurant to enjoy brunch with family and friends.

Very fast and friendly staff. We had the Laulau and it was better than advertised. The fried rice content is huge. My wife and children liked the chicken skins.

The lau lau combo (fried rice slow cooked pork and beef) is so good! The meat is tender. Leave is editable so don’t need to worry too much about peeling off. Location is amazing as well. Looking out to a park and there is outdoor seating as well.
