Cham Cham Korean Bbq - Hilo

This is a good place to stop for this rare Korean barbecue in Hilo. The decor is dated. The atmosphere is definitely Basic Diner. But there is a wide range of food available, and it is well served.

Korean style food but not really korean food. Its Hawaiian bbq not Korean bbq. Banchan was ok. The chajangmyun was just aweful. Someone on yelp remarked that it tasted like the instant stuff. We wish it was chapagetti and though painful to pay $20 for it, we would have at least ate it. We couldn 't eat this or the bibim kook soo it was so aweful. The spicy squid was mediocre and watery. Bibim bap was good though I would recommend not getting meat with it. Its just more Korean with the veggies only. The bbq meat changes the flavor profile you would normally expect. What I would say is the one aspect consistent with other reviews was the Sundubu-jjigae. It was good and legit.

Your spicy BBQ pork was absolutely fantastic! I also really enjoyed the side of vegetables. Make sure to check if they have Taegu; if they do, definitely give it a try! The food is incredible! I recommend going during the day, as the parking can be a bit dark at night.

This place deserves five stars! Lehua is fantastic! It's the best Korean BBQ in Hilo!

When our meals came out, Taylor realized that my wife's order was incorrect; instead of the Meat Jun, they had given her Chicken Katsu. Fortunately, my wife enjoys Chicken Katsu, so it worked out. Since the mix-up was the kitchen's fault, my wife got to keep the Katsu while they quickly brought her the Meat Jun within about five minutes. She was thrilled and couldn't stop raving about it. All the meats were cooked to perfection, and honestly, it was the best we've had in Hilo. The Mandoo sauce was also exceptional! I wrapped up our meal with some soothing lavender tea. We left the restaurant feeling fully satisfied and excited to return. Great food and excellent service!
