Lower Deck at The Breakwater - Hillarys

Unfortunately I would not recommend this restaurant for a family of 2 adults and 2 children. Not only was the menus very limited for children, 11 and 14 years. But it was loud, definitely not relaxing. Could hear ourselves talk. And a simple kids meal, with a 6cm by 6cm chicken ten nugget, and a scatter of dry chips were certainly not worth $20. And definitely not filling. Yet the main menu didnt leave many options for the kids to just have a simple adults meal. As adults my husband and I enjoyed our meals, the barramundi was lovely. But you want to whole family to enjoy the experience, particularly on my birthday. It was quite an unpleasant 2 hrs with not much talking as you couldn't hear each other with all the noise in the bar next door. And very expensive night out for the experience. Would be go again, unfortunately definitely not. If it is fine dining, which is what we thought we were going to get as a special treat for my Birthday, this place did not have the ambience or sufficient menu to cater for all. And definitely look at your kids menu, ask yourselves if you would want your kids eating chicken 1x nugget and chips at a fine dining restaurant for $20?? Even a kids spaghetti of some sort would have sufficed. Very disappointed.

We attended this restaurant an a date night. Loved the food it was amazing. Service good too. Only fault, they didn’t have any Chardonnay.

Admittedly this review isn 't about Ishka restaurant rather than 'The Breakwater ' which doesn 't appear to be listed on TA at all. We decided upon a mid-week visit and was surprised about how busy it was. Despite this we still managed to find a table. It was hot upstairs and full downstairs. We eventually managed an outside shaded table with a great breeze. Being that this venue suits on the Hillarys marina it usually gets great sea breezes. Drinks are pretty well priced especially during the Happy Hour. Staff were pleasant and served patrons quickly. The meals were great and we were very happy with service and venue.

After finding much of Hillarys Boat Harbour crowded and unpleasant, with tables at eateries left for ages without clearing, it was a delight to discover Ishka an oasis of calm. There was an extensive wine list and our choices for mains: Eye Fillet and Porcini Chicken matched the quality of the scallop entree. We couldn't resist sharing a wonderful tiramisu to finish. Highly recommended.

Celebrated our daughter's 40th today at Ishka. Excellent on all levels. Thanks everyone for looking after our group.
