We walked into town, and after wandering a little we found the restaurant tucked away on West Lane. As soon as we entered, we were greeted with a cheery hello, and a we don 't take cards, cash only . I checked my cash, and certainly didn 't have enough to cover the evening. The staff advised that the Royal Bank of Scotland had an ATM and was a 5 minute walk away on West Argyle Street. Off we went into the rain, only to get to the ATM and find it was out of order! A quick Goole of ATM 's in Ullapool showed there was one at the Tesco supermarket. We then plodded off to Tesco. I withdrew a couple of hundred quid, and we walked back, in the rain to Essence of India. With a feeling of deja vu, we entered again, and we were quickly shown to a table. Prior to studying the menu 's I asked for a couple of cold beers, and then was told ..we don 't serve alcohol you can get some at Tesco and drink it with your meal
Food was excellent! There were negative reviews but the evening we went we enjoyed all dishes ordered. Note they take cash only and don’t serve alcohol.
I was a little hesitant with this as previous reviews were a little unkind. I thought the food was very nice very tasty and well cooked, no Delhi belly next day either. 2 portions of onion bhaji 1 chicken chat 2 main meals 2 rice 1 chips and 2 naans oh and 4 poppadoms £55 not bad. One minor thing was the chicken chat was too spicy for the missus which it usually is not spicy at all. Recommend
Great food, take your own alcohol though! Friendly staff and nice atmosphere . Plenty to choose from
Nice folks and ordered a carry out of my favourite indian meal but sadly for my empty belly it was pretty short on meat, tasted okay but unimpressed. Perhaps be better if you were sitting in but i was on the road and starvin'. Wont be back !
